About the event
We are working on a project to collect and highlight the stories of the Black women civil rights activists in Houston County. Â Many of their stories and experiences have gone untold. So far, we have identified a handful, but need your assistance to connect us to any other women you may know who are willing to share their stories. Â We are asking participants to drop in on Saturday 8/22 between 1pm-3pm. Â We will also have Gail Alexander-Maiden from Houston County's Black Heritage Society on site to capture the stories. Â Women will have their photo taken and stories recorded. Â It will be very informal--of course PPE will also be available for all who attend.
Please share the flyer with your networks, and send names and contact for women you may know to info@fenikamiller.com.
We are specifically in search of student sit-in participants, school integration stories, march participants, organizers, any who wish to share their arrest stories, or whose family members want to share their untold stories.
Our young people are hungry to learn our history—We have lost so many of our movement makers. It is important that we capture and document the untold stories yet told.  Please also let me know if you are interested in participating, as well. We would love to have you!
